Lectio Divina

Divine reading, an ancient practice of prayerful Scripture meditation, designed to foster a deep, personal encounter with God.

The process involves four key steps:

lectio (reading), where you slowly and attentively read a passage of Scripture;

meditatio (meditation), in which you reflect on the text and allow it to speak to your heart;

oratio (prayer), a time for responding to God’s Word with your own prayers; and

contemplatio (contemplation), where you simply rest in God’s presence, allowing the Scripture to transform your life.

His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19 Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man and unwilling to expose her to disgrace, decided to dismiss her quietly. 20 He had this in mind when suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife because the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 2She will give birth to a son and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.’ 22 All this took place to fulfil what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:e 23 Look, the virgin is with child and will give birth to a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which means ‘God-is-with-us’. 24 When Joseph woke from sleep he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took her as his wife.

Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is the one of whom it is written: Look, I am going to send my messenger ahead of you to prepare the way before you. 11 ‘Amen I say to you, of the children born to women, none has been raised up greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than he. 12 Since John the Baptist came, up to this present time, the kingdom of Heaven has been subjected to violence and the violent are taking it by storm. 13 For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John the Baptist; 14 and he, if you will accept it, is Elijah who was to come. 15 Anyone who has ears should listen!
